French “Goodies” For Me!

Hubby and I had a wonderful  overnight get-away for Valentine’s Day. He took me to dinner at Vincenzo’s, one of our favorite restaurants in Louisville and the food was c’est magnifique as usual.  If you’re a UK fan, Coach Cal likes this restaurant, too!!!

We spent the night at our home in Lexington, and I was able to steal some time away and do a little shopping.  It’s always a treat for me to visit my good friend, Debbie Chamblin at Belle Maison Antiques and see what French trésors she has.  She had already let me know that she had gotten some sheep engravings in and she knew I have been looking for some.

They are so charming and I just love sheep engravings and paintings. These are English and I can’t wait to have them matted and framed.

Actually, I should make copies of them first.  They would make wonderful transfer projects!

I scored BIG on the next item!

It’s a wonderful example of a French gathering basket and it’s in excellent condition for its age.  It would have been used for an individual to pick flowers or berries.

I added the French enamel number and played around with a vignette.

The handle and frame are solid and the weaving is so nicely done. Both sides have a hinged flap with the most delicate small knobs.

Can’t you just imagine a walk in beautiful Provence with basket in hand gathering sweet lavender?

I can.

Yep, it was a good Valentine’s  week.

Until next time,

Kim
