Changes and Growth

Along with the New Year comes a bevy of ideas for change.  This is one such year for me.  I have lots of changes in store.  Not “change” in that I don’t like where I am or what I’m doing, but “change” in an intentional upward movement toward my goals and personal growth.

I made my husband watch the animated movie “Madagascar” the other night because it’s very motivational concerning “change”.  The lead character, Marty the zebra, (Christ Rock is the voice) wants to change from the confines of the zoo and takes an adventure to the wild.  The other host of animal characters are content to stay where they are.  And I really like the King Lemur character who is ridiculously funny and sings and dances to “I’ve Got to Move it, Move it”, which is a great mantra for this year.

My husband and I also have themes for each year as we write down our goals and our theme for 2013 is “Life’s An Adventure…Do It Now”.  I mean, what are we waiting for?  I am also currently reading John Maxwell’s latest book, The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth.  He’s one of my favorite motivational/spiritual leaders and I can highly recommend any of his books.  I had the opportunity of attending one of his lectures a few years ago and it was great.

So with a leap of faith and much prayer, I’ll be opening an Etsy and Ruby Lane shop in the next couple months, traveling to France a couple times this year, and taking a fresh approach on my blog really focusing on Antiques, Décor, & Lifestyle.  It’s time to just “go for it….all of it”!

I’m also committed to getting better at social media.  I’ll admit I’ve been failing in that arena.

I’m eagerly awaiting where the journey will take me and where I’ll eventually end up.

Look out world!!! lol

What about you?  Do you have a theme for 2013?  What exciting things lie ahead for you?

Here’s to change.  Life’s an adventure. I’ve got to MOVE IT, MOVE IT!

Kim-Good for you! I am focusing on some big changes this year, too....moving from an oversized property to one that will be more suitable...life is full of changes and I choose to embrace them rather than hide from them-it seems you do the same- xo Diana

Good for you, Kim. Embrace life and go for it. We are considering a move if we can find the right property. I'm ready to embrace a change. Change is good! ;-)

Great theme, Kim. Attack life head on. I think, "Move It, Move It", is a good one for me. There's a lot I want to accomplish in 2013.

Yes, hat's off to change! My life has changed drastically but I'm embracing it and looking at it as an opportunity for growth. Forced to retire, faced with a health crisis that has forced me to slow down and be in the moment. Going back to school to finish my degree at aged 57. Love your perspective on change and growth. Thanks for the book recommendation.
