A New Year’s Dining Table

IMG_2002

Happy New Year to everyone!  The holidays have been wonderfully busy here at La Belle Époque and we’re still celebrating.  The kids don’t go back to college until this weekend so the house has been full of laughter, activity, and lots of family game time.  Oh, and lots and lots and lots of baking, cooking, and FOOD.  I’m definitely on food overload and don’t want to eat again for some time.  I’m sure that will change by tomorrow.  Our traditional New Year’s dinner today included cooked cabbage and everybody actually enjoyed it this time. lol

I wanted to set the tone for the New Year with a tablescape of quiet simplicity.

After a night of New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, the NYC ball drop, party foods, horns and cheers, I planned a hushed reverence for New Year’s Day.

I kept the white quilted boutis runner from Christmas and used white, silver, and soft pink for the muted color scheme.

Even though we use them everyday, I still love the square Hotel porcelain plates that I got from Macy’s.  They’re clean, contemporary and layered over square silver chargers they are elegant.

I used a set of mismatched white vintage napkins each gathered with a napkin ring.  I love these clock rings I found on Etsy.  I only have four so I used two of the vintage French Brasserie du Square silverplate ones from a set.

I repurposed a pedestaled mercury glass canister base for the mini balsam left over from Christmas and filled two mercury glass votives from Big Lots with ever-so-soft pink (almost blush) roses that my husband gave to me yesterday.

Four French jam jars hold votive candles nestled in sunflower seeds.

I added a vintage metal clock face to the Target Christmas pom pom wreath on the mirror.

Everyone received mini muslin bags that I handstamped with 2013.  Goodies inside included symbols for the New Year:  a vintage key – for success, a mini clock face – for plenty of time ahead, a dime – for prosperity, and a bible verse folded on a piece of paper – for spiritual guidance.

This is a time for reflection and planning ahead.  As all of the festivities come to a close, may we be reminded of blessings from the past year with renewed hope, joy, and adventure for 2013.

That’s it.  FRESH. SOFT. UNFUSSY. DETAILS. COMFORT.  UNCLUTTERED. BEAUTIFUL.

That’s how the New Year is speaking to me.  How is the New Year speaking to you?

I’m so excited about this year that I can hardly stand it.  So many wonderful things to come.  And it’s gonna be busy, busy, busy.

Yes, I registered for the Haven Conference today.  Have you?

I love every single element, especially those nifty clock napkin rings! But most of all I think those roses are wonderful - what a sweet fella. He deserves another big hug.

I think the new year is going to be awesome, and I look so forward to reading your every post!

Hugs.

This is awesome and sooo stylish. The dining table is one of the most important pieces of furniture for home owners. Indeed the dining table acts as the conference table where family members and guests come together to feast and chat. The addition of a fine such table is not only essential, it can revolutionize the interior of your home.Thanks.
