Holiday Dining Room

I tried to keep decorations to a minimum this year, but alas, it always seems to end up being more than I anticipated.

The tall hurricanes are limed oak and nickel and I bought them at Trillium in Lexington. I think they go great with the antique Louis Philippe mirror. I won't finish the dining table until it gets closer to Christmas.  I always use fresh flowers and I want them to look good for the holiday dinners.

I found these awesome feather trees at Belle Maison in Lexington and I think they are so tres chic. They’re my new favorite holiday decorating accessory this year.  I also used them in the butler’s pantry for cohesiveness. (well, that’s my excuse…I just love them).

The “He is Born” story booklets came from Wisteria last year. They are printed with the verses 1-20 from Luke.  I used booklets like these in 2010 for each place setting. The religious candle holders also came from Wisteria.

I didn’t have time to set the entire table, so I thought I’d show you what I’m planning on using for each place setting for Christmas dinner.  This is still a work in progress.  I’m trying to stick with my Joyeux Noel/French Country theme. I found these Eiffel tower ornaments at Z Gallerie and knew they would be perfect for place card holders.  Instead of getting out the formal china, I am using my square white set.  I turned the cardboard Thankful placemats over that I used for Thanksgiving to get more than one use out of them. I think I probably need to add sprigs of greenery  under the napkin holders.  I am matching the numbers on the cards with the numbers of the Pottery Barn napkin rings.  I always have a small treat or gift for each person at the table, so this year I found these great little Joyeux Noel bags on Etsy and filled them with tiny ballotins of Godiva chocolate. Yummy treat!
