What do an empty rustic picture frame, a large embroidery hoop, and a fancy vintage broken mirror base have in common? They all can be wreaths!!!
What do an empty rustic picture frame, a large embroidery hoop, and a fancy vintage broken mirror base have in common? They all can be wreaths!!!
I wanted to welcome guests to my home this year with a different twist on the traditional fall wreath. All three are easy to assemble and can be changed with the holidays.
The first one I call NATURAL BEAUTY.
A simple rustic weathered picture frame from HL, dried hydrangeas from my garden, wired ribbon, and hand-stamped upholstery webbing are all this nature-inspired wreath needs. Oh, and hot glue!
It looks great in the foyer, too.
I refer to wreath number 2 as SEW HAPPY FOR HALLOWEEN.
I started with the largest sewing/embroidery hoop I could find. I used ASCP in Old Ochre to paint it.
I added some muslin, a B & W vintage photo copy in a hand-stamped mat, and some fall foliage I picked up at HL. I used burlap ribbon to create a loop for hanging.
I played around using other extra photos mats that I had and a photo copy of me and hubby.
It would be fun using a photo of your kids dressed up for Halloween and stamp it with the date.
The third and final wreath was born out of an accident. I call it ANTIQUE CHIC.
Here was what was left of my beautiful antique etched mirror that the movers broke when we moved my daughter into her condo for college.
Hummmmm….what should I do with this lovely frame?
Turn it into a wreath! I used ASCP in Old Ochre for this one as well. It’s one of my favorite chalk paint colors. I found this great roll of orange wrapping paper at HG and covered a poster board template with it as a background. It can easily be switched out for other holidays.
Voilà!
I added ribbon, trim, and ornaments that I already had.
All three could be used inside or outside in a covered area. I hope this inspires you to look around your house and find something different to turn into a fall wreath.
Which one is your favorite?
Blessings,
Kim

Love the Bonjour one! You were a great leader on our trip to France! We had such a wonderful time. I'm ready to go again!
Kim~ Your wreaths are all so creative and clever! I love that you were able to salvage the frame from your beautiful mirror. Those Halloween figures and fun orange paper are adorable together with the burlap pumpkin, ribbon & flower!
Beautiful Fall wreaths! Very creative.
Oh Kim...I love them all...you are the clever one!! and that gorgeous frame!..you turned it into a masterpiece...what a shame that the movers broke it..but you certainly gave it new life!...So when is the next tour!!...ready to go!!
look at you with all of your creative wreaths! love them all.
Kim, What an inspiration! I love that you have taken 3 items that many of us would overlook and turned them into wreaths that double as little works of art! What imagination! I need a big dose of your creativity today! Wonderful post!!!!! HAPPY FALL!
My favorite is #2! I just love everything about it. Well done!
Hi Kim, I'm so happy to have found you through the fall decor party. Your wreaths are all clever and well done, and I especially love the one with the hydrangea (one of my weaknesses--just put some hydrangea on it and I'm sold!). I'm following you now and really looking forward to exploring your older posts! Linda
I like all three, but find the witch hat photo particularly funny! Think I am third from the right.
I love them all Kim!
I have several old frames around the house, but I never would have thought of using them in this way. Love your creativity!
They are all so fun - my favorite is Natural Beauty - she wins for Miss Congeniality!

Tough choice!!! They are all so luvly... but alas I have a fluttering of the heart for the mirror frame. So sorry it got broken, but it sure does make for a beautiful wreath :-)
Hugs, Gee
I love them all Kim but the two with the frames are just gorgeous!! Great job.
Cynthia
Don't make me choose...I love them all! ok, maybe I'm partial to the first one :)
