The Paris Flea Market

Six weeks later and the painting is finished.  Well, almost.  I’m still waiting on the contractors to come and do an installation of a board and batten treatment on the media wall in the family room and then the painters have to return.

I repeat. It’s been 6 weeks and not ONE, not ONE of my rooms is completely finished and put back together again.  I keep promising reveals to you and I’m sure I’ll have something completed by Thanksgiving! LOL

My upholstered bed from Ethan Allen is being delivered tomorrow and I’m so excited.

In the meantime, I’ll share some more Paris adventures.

I was fortunate enough to get to go to the famous Marche Aux Puces in Cliagnocort in St. Quen.

Let me begin by saying there is a lot to see.  One could never shop all of the vendors in one day.  But I certainly gave it my best effort.  Below is a map of only ONE section.

It can be overwhelming at first, but once you put your eyes back in your head and focus you can really find some great things.  And, let me tell you that you see everything from low-end stuff to very high-end stuff.

It was an absolutely lovely brisk September day and wouldn’t you know it, I found some treasures at the first booth I visited.

I spied some awesome green and white enamel over metal signs and numbers.  There were some numbers, days of the week, and months.  Not a full set.  Just piecemeal.

I really wanted December 25 for Christmas décor, but alas, no Decembre.  But I did find November 14 which is my anniversary date.  How’s that for romance found in the streets of Paris?

Here are me and my cousin Bobbi from Texas dealing with the nice Frenchman.  He did come down in price.  I think I got a pretty good deal.

This same dealer had this awesome zinc bottle drying rack and look what’s on top…a killer chandy!  My suitcase just wasn’t big enough.

He also had this cool spigot.  I would love to use this in a laundry room or outside garden room.

Of course, I did a lot more brocanting, but it’ll have to wait for another day.  I’ve got to get ready for the bed delivery.  I can’t wait.

Blessings,

Kim

Wow! Amazing...wish we would have had time to go to the markets in Paris this summer. We were only there for 2 days out of our two week Europe vacation. I want to go back...don't you?

I'm enjoying your Paris adventure. Loving the metal signs. You have some major work going on at home. I sure it will be beautiful when you're done.

Les Puces de St Ouen are a lot of fun, but you are right, one needs time to see everything as the place can feel a tad overwhelming. I like the old signs you found. They sell "newer" versions at the BHV department store in downtown Paris that cost an arm and a leg! Better get original ones even if you have to bargain with a chain-smoking Frenchman :-) Veronique (French Girl in Seattle)
