Fall Around The Front Door: A Tale Of 3 Easy To Make Wreaths

I'm joining 11 other bloggers for the Fall Around The House Party.  Please visit the others for some fun fall inspiration to add to your rooms.

What do an empty rustic picture frame, a large embroidery hoop, and a fancy vintage broken mirror base have in common?  They all can be wreaths!!!

I wanted to welcome guests to my home this year with a different twist on the traditional fall wreath.  All three are easy to assemble and can be changed with the holidays.

The first one I call NATURAL BEAUTY.

A simple rustic weathered picture frame from HL, dried hydrangeas from my garden, wired ribbon, and hand-stamped upholstery webbing are all this nature-inspired wreath needs.  Oh, and hot glue!

It looks great in the foyer, too.

I refer to wreath number 2 as SEW HAPPY FOR HALLOWEEN.

I started with the largest sewing/embroidery hoop I could find. I used ASCP in Old Ochre to paint it.

I added some muslin, a B & W vintage photo copy in a hand-stamped mat, and some fall foliage I picked up at HL.  I used burlap ribbon to create a loop for hanging.

I played around using other extra photos mats that I had and a photo copy of me and hubby.

It would be fun using a photo of your kids dressed up for Halloween and stamp it with the date.

The third and final wreath was born out of an accident. I call it ANTIQUE CHIC.

Here was what was left of my beautiful antique etched mirror that the movers broke when we moved my daughter into her condo for college.

Hummmmm….what should I do with this lovely frame?

Turn it into a wreath!  I used ASCP in Old Ochre for this one as well.  It’s one of my favorite chalk paint colors.   I found this great roll of orange wrapping paper at HG and covered a poster board template with it as a background.  It can easily be switched out for other holidays.

Voilà!

I added ribbon, trim, and ornaments that I already had.

All three could be used inside or outside in a covered area.  I hope this inspires you to look around your house and find something different to turn into a fall wreath.

  8. Hi Kim, I'm so happy to have found you through the fall decor party. Your wreaths are all clever and well done, and I especially love the one with the hydrangea (one of my weaknesses--just put some hydrangea on it and I'm sold!). I'm following you now and really looking forward to exploring your older posts! Linda
